ABOUT

I was born and raised in central Missouri. Not straying far from home, I enrolled at two local universities and studied photojournalism, english, creative writing, philosophy, art, music history, graphic design, exercise science, bartending, bicycling, etc, etc.

I graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and a minor in English.

Since then I have worked on loading docks, farms and film sets and in bars, barns, restaurants and retail stores. More recently I had been working in offices, including a couple years in the Missouri Film Office and 15 years at The Beenders Walker Group, a boutique public relations and marketing firm. I also have served as the Executive Director of the Missouri Outdoor Communicators for more than 10 years.

I am a freelance writer and a maker of music. And an aspiring bike mechanic, part-time wannabe endurance athlete, and fledgling (f)arts and crafts enthusiast. That’s in addition to being a full-time husband and father.

I write about the things that I love and the things I like to do, mostly outdoor adventures, travel, endurance sports, backroads and bicycles.

My work has appeared in Terrain, Rural Missouri, The Conservationist, Conservation Federation, Outdoor Guide, Jefferson City Magazine, Anthem Magazine, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Springfield News-Leader, Edwardsville Intelligencer, and the Columbia Missourian, among other outlets.

I am an active media member of the Missouri Outdoor Communicators and Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers. Additionally, I am a supporting member of the Ozark Riverways Foundation, and Trout Unlimited.
